Delivery Model

Cognition LLP is typically engaged in one of a number of ways:

Part time legal counsel: Our most common engagement model where our lawyers attend at your office for a certain number of days each week. When not on site at your office, our lawyers will remain available to address your needs.

Temporary counsel: Our lawyers attend at your office on a part-time or full-time basis for a fixed period of time, according to your needs and requirements (e.g. maternity leave replacement).

Project based counsel: Our lawyers are engaged for specific periods to work on specific projects.

Ongoing project based work: Our lawyers draft and negotiate your legal agreements as your business requires, whether onsite or offsite of your premises.

In each case, you only pay for the legal services that you use.

We may bill in a variety of ways, to match the needs of your business. Typically, we will bill on an hourly basis, a daily basis or on a fixed fee basis. Our flexibility will be refreshing to you, as we will work to ensure that our billing model meets your requirements rather than rigidly enforcing an upfront retainer as you would normally pay. Also, in contrast to typical service providers, we do not charge you for faxes, long distance charges, photocopies, or travel time to and from your office except where such charges are significant, thereby alleviating the stress sometimes associated with calling a lawyer from an outside firm.
